Mandvi is the base for many interesting sightseeing trips. Bhuj is the capital of Kutch district, and has a number of fascinating monuments. The Bhujia fort, overlooks the city from a 160 meter high hill. The palace complex, beside lake Hamirsar, has 16^th century walls with intricate carved jarokha balconies and jali-work. The 19^th century addition is the Pragmahal, built in European style with classical columns and Gothic arches, and done up inside with Minton tiles, Corinthian pillars, murals of Shakespearan characters, Graeco-Roman statutory and Victorian-Edwardian furniture. The 18^th century Aina mahal in the same complex is one of the finest palaces in India for interiors, with lovely jewel and mirror inlaid walls, a marble paved pleasure pool, paintings, silk embroideries and a museum of Dutch clocks, marriage items, portraits and other princely relics. Also worth seeing in Bhuj are the Kutch museum, Bharatiya Sanskriti darshan and royal cenotaphs. Badreswar has a cluster of gaily painted Jain temples, dating to 13^th century or even earlier, and remains of one of the India’s oldest Islamic settlements.

Accommodation options at Mandvi are unfortunately limited. The Gujarat tourism complex has a/c and non a/c bunk cabins with attached baths, twin bedded tents with shared baths and an Indian food cafeteria. There are some inexpensive guest houses in the downtown area of Mandvi. The Vijay vilas palace offers simple accommodations in an out-house of the palace. The best place to eat in Mandvi is Rajneesh Osho, a thali house offering excellent Kutchi thalis for about Rs.30. Mandvi is 2 hours from Gandhidham, connected by train to Bombay and South India, 1 hour from Bhuj which receives flights from Bombay.
